NFF Appoints Labbadia as New Super Eagles Coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Bruno Labbadia as the new Super Eagles coach.

NFF disclosed the appointment in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday morning, noting that he takes over with ‘immediate effect’.

“The Nigeria Football Federation has announced that it has reached an agreement with German tactician, Bruno Labbadia, to become the Head Coach of Nigeria’s Senior Men National Team, Super Eagles,” the NFF wrote.

The federation’s General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi also confirmed the appointment saying; “The NFF Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to appoint Mr. Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles.”

The 58-year-old becomes the senior national team’s 37th coach after the resignation of former coach, Finidi George some months ago, who is now the manager of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Rivers United.

Prior to his recent appointment, Labbadia’s last managerial job was his second stint at Stuttgart, which ended with his dismissal four months after taking the role in December 2022. He has also managed Stuttgart, Hertha Berlin, Wolfsburg, as well as other teams.
